Sharon Yvonne Stone was born on March 10, 1958, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to the accountant Dorothy Lawson and tool and die maker and former factory worker Joseph William Stone II. Three siblings are hers: Michael, Kelly, and Patrick. Stone was thought to be exceptionally gifted in her academics when she entered in the second grade at age five. Stone graduated from Saegertown High School in Saegertown, Pennsylvania, in 1975. In 1975, the Miss Pennsylvania beauty competition saw her take home Miss Crawford County. Stone moved to New Jersey with her aunt New Jersey, where she began a modeling career. The following month, Stone signed up at the Ford Modeling Agency. Stone soon moved to Europe and spent a full year with her aunt in Milan as well as Paris. Stone was unhappy with the model market in Europe, and chose to pursue acting instead. Stone was a 20-year-old in Woody Allen's "Stardust Memories" which received mixed reviews.
